Cat Lovers: Let’s Celebrate World Cat Day

World Cat Day

Cat lovers, today’s our day—World Cat Day, August 8! So all around the world people celebrate their love for their cat!

My cat, Jesse, a silver-tip Siamese, filled my life for fourteen years with all the fun a cat can bring to your life. He died October 10, 2023. Lin buried him our back yard in his garden.

For the majority of my life, I was a dog lover, not a cat lover, but I divorced and my ex took our dog in 2008. So, I rescued Jesse in February 2009. Quickly we adjusted to each other and I moved from a dog lover, to a cat lover quickly—Jesse captured my heart!

When Lin and I married, Jesse and I moved into his house. Lin has slight cat allergies so he kept his distance, but soon a tradition began. Each morning, Lin would come down the stairs, and Jesse, laying on my side of the love seat, would meow at him. Then Lin would meow back, and the chorus continued back and forth! It was hilarious!

Sadly Jesse developed feline diabetes about six years ago and needed insulin shots twice daily. He loved Lin’s garden, and during the last couple years of his life, I walked him in Lin’s garden daily early in morning in the spring and summer. Then he sat by the back door, waiting to be let out to lounge on the patio or roam around.

Yes, I go on record saying, “I’m a cat lover!” Jesse made me that way.

Here’s a video collection of pictures of my dear Jesse!
